Advanced Placement Program

INTRODUCTION TO THE RICHWOODS’ AP PROGRAM

Our RHS Advanced Placement program currently offers 17 AP courses including Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Environmental Science, English Language, English Literature, European History, French Language, Human Geography, Physics B, Psychology, Spanish Language, Statistics, Studio Art/Drawing Portfolio, US History, and World History.

Each of these courses is developed by faculty and trained AP College Board-approved teachers.

The AP course ends with an exam administered for each respective course in May; this exam represents the culmination of college-level work in a given discipline area in the secondary school setting and measures a student's mastery of college-level work. A score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can typically earn students college credit and/or placement into advanced courses in college. We have numerous students who, with their AP earned credits, are earning a sophomore in college status upon entering college. That's impressive and a lot of money saved!

Our AP courses are designed to both challenge and give students confidence in a college-level setting. We are committed to preparing high-achieving students who are college and career-ready global citizens. We want each of our students to reach his or her academic and personal potential. Access to rigorous course work such as AP plays an important role in that success.

AP courses are not designated to a "certain" student; please see teachers to discuss your options in taking an advanced placement course.
